Tea at the Westgate Hotel

There's really nothing better than a good sunday tea with one of your best ladies.  You get to dress up, surround yourself with fancy furniture and chandeliers, drink tea and eat cakes while gossiping away to your hearts content.

To me, tea time just screams for vintage fashion to accompany it. And trust me, it doesn't take much encouragement for me to go all out with some pinup style.

Gloria's dress was an absolute STEAL! Isn't she simply lovely?

My dress is more on the expensive side, but I promise you the quality of pinupgirl clothing is completely worth the price. Such a great company who makes clothes that fit all sizes and just make everyone look fantastic!

Plus this dress has pockets!!!

I'm proud to say I managed to both our hair myself. If anyone is interested in a tutorial of some kind, leave me a comment and let me know!

After my husband informed me that we were going to be late if we kept taking pictures (oops) we drove off to the Westgate Hotel in the Gaslamp district.

I discovered this gem when out with Robin one day, and we noticed ladies having tea while a harpist played amidst this stunning interior. You would never guess that this was in here from the rather plain exterior of the hotel.

Sweeping staircases, gilded mirrors, velvet upholstery and the highest of ceilings adorned with chandeliers take you back in time as soon as you enter.

We were seated at our tiny tea table off to one side (great view for people watching in peace ;) )

I know I said we were there for tea...but they also have a tea and champagne option. Always say yes to champagne.

Unless you're underage. Or allergic. Or are driving. You know what I mean.

Our little sandwiches arrived with our teas. A pot of classic English for me and a green jasmine tea for her.

We nibbled (gobbled) and laughed (snorted) our way through the first selection, which was delicious, by the way.

When we finished, our server arrived with this beauty of berries and cream along with a fresh baked scone.

I have no pictures of that because it looked like a butter murder scene before I thought of it. But just pretend i took one of those classy pictures of clotted cream and jam on a scone, yea?

I have to say I honestly thought that was the end of the tea. And then that blessed lady came by and served us these.

We were not upset.

All of them but the lemon meringue were wonderful. Even the lemon wasn't bad, just rather tasteless compared to the rest.

We had such a lovely tea at the Westgate. Their harpist was such a sweet lady and a talented musician.

The cherry on top happened as were we leaving. A couple of ladies stopped us to ask if we would take pictures with her young son. Of course we obliged, both secretly feeling like princesses at Disneyland.

The Westgate hotel has Afternoon tea on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can make a reservation here
And they have multiple options which you can look at here.

Their prices are surprisingly reasonable, and the staff are fantastic.

Be sure to mention that you're there for tea if you valet your car, it will be just a few dollars which is basically a miracle in downtown San Diego!

If you know any good places for tea let me know in the comments below! I'm always looking for good suggestions!
